This isn’t your average grocery store salmon. This is the real deal—wild-caught in the cold, pristine waters of Alaska, where sockeye roam free, feeding on their natural diet of krill and plankton. That’s what gives them their signature deep red color and rich, buttery flavor. No artificial coloring, no weird additives—just wild, natural perfection.

We are Hook Point

At Hook Point Fisheries, fishing isn’t just a job—it’s our way of life. Every summer, our family of five lives and works off-grid on the rugged shores of Kodiak Island, hand-harvesting wild Alaskan salmon with care and respect for both the fish and the land. Out here, the tides and salmon migrations shape everything we do, connecting us deeply to the wild, untamed beauty of Alaska. We believe that real food brings people together, and when you choose our salmon, you’re not just getting incredible seafood—you’re becoming part of our community. From Alaskan waters to your table, this is food with a story, a purpose, and a whole lot of love.

Welcome to Hook Point — we’re so glad you’re here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you really catch these salmon yourselves?

Yes, we do. We also source salmon from fellow set netters and small boat fishermen. Rest assured that all of our fish is not only of the highest quality, but is also sustainably and responsibly harvested.

What if I have a quality concern?

We 100% stand by the quality of our salmon. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied, please contact us by phone or email. We will do our very best to make things right.

Because we are shipping frozen salmon, we do not accept return orders. Instead we may send a new shipment or offer a full or partial refund.

Does your salmon have pinbones?

Nope. No pin bones. We remove them during processing.

How long will my salmon last frozen?

Our salmon are vacuum sealed in an air free environment and are protected from dehydration or freezer burn. The quality should remain the same as the day salmon was packaged. We have found that one year is a good shelf life for our salmon.

How should I thaw my salmon?

Thawing your salmon correctly is very important in order to ensure peak quality and prevent health risks. Once thawed, pat gently with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. We recommend you follow FDA guidelines for food handling and cook all products to the FDA’s Recommended internal temperatures. There are several methods of defrosting your seafood. We recommend the following:

  • Refrigerator - For the best quality remove from packaging, plate and then cover. Place it in the refrigerator 12-24 hours prior to cooking. Once defrosted your salmon will be good for up to three days. Do not refreeze it.
  • Cold Water - Submerge the salmon in a cold bowl of water leaving the it in the sealed bag. Keep submerged until it is completely defrosted, changing the water changing the water as needed. It is not recommended to thaw the salmon outside of the sealed bag. Cook immediately after defrosting.

How much room will 10 pounds take up in my freezer?

Not as much as you think.

10 pounds will take up about a half a square foot of freezer space. Because of the compact nature of salmon meat, it is very easy to store.

What are your shipping rates?

You can find our shipping rates here

How quickly will my order ship?

All shipments are sent on Monday or Tuesday. If you place an order after Monday, it will ship the following week.

You will receive confirmation as soon as it is on its way to you.

What kind of packaging do you use?

Our salmon are vacuum sealed. They are shipped with dry ice and Green Cell Foam, the most environmentally sustainable packaging available. Made from US-grown corn, Green Cell Foam is compostable and can even be dissolved in a sink for safe and easy disposal.

What should I do with the dry ice from my order?

We use dry ice to keep your fish frozen during transit. When removing your fish please be mindful of the dry ice. For your safety, do not handle dry ice with your bare hands.

You can leave the dry ice in the shipping container in a well ventilated area, with the lid off, and it will evaporate in 1-2 days.

We want you to enjoy a seamless delivery and unpacking experience. With this in mind, we cannot stress enough the importance of handling dry ice with caution.
